Through metabolic medicine
Metabolic medicine focuses on understanding and managing metabolic disorders and imbalances in the body. It involves the study and treatment of various metabolic conditions, including diabetes, obesity, metabolic syndrome, hormone imbalance, heart disease, kidney disease , thyroid disorders, and lipid disorders.
We work with practitioners and their staff to train and educate on the impacts of treating patients through a metabolic lens. We then help implement the Medusa Methodology within the practice.
Our software allows both the patient and the practitioner to assess and understand overall health through tracking labs and patient data. We work with your current EMR to meaningfully connect you to your patient data.
We provide monthly data reports to help practitioners understand and see the impact on their patients. Additionally, our clients have access one on one or group sessions with our experts to discuss specific patient needs.
By 2020, over 60% of all adults in America will be at risk for, or suffer from, type 2 diabetes, pre-diabetes, or obesity, which are related to many of the leading causes of preventable death.
Understanding metabolism and the science behind the imbalances that lead to excess body weight reveals why diets don’t fix this problem in the long term and may actually lead to additional weight gain. Because obesity is a symptom of a metabolic condition, which is a medical problem, abnormal weight gain is not your fault.
Another counterintuitive reality is that excess body weight is not a problem in itself, but rather is a symptom. In fact, 50% of people with obesity have healthy blood pressure and cholesterol and blood glucose levels, while 25% of normal-weight people have unhealthy levels. Therefore, obesity does not automatically indicate that someone is unhealthy or unfit, just as being in a normal-weight range does not mean someone is healthy or fit.
Metabolic medicine often emphasizes the prevention and early detection of metabolic disorders through screening programs, health education, and interventions aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles. By addressing metabolic imbalances and promoting metabolic health, metabolic medicine plays a crucial role in preventing and managing chronic conditions and improving overall well-being.
